FISHING DERBIES

Annual Davey Derby -  Held at Port Renfrew late in July (25, 26, and 27 in 2008). Derby features a prize table totaling over $16,000.00 with all proceeds going to charity and salmon enhancement. Tickets are $45.00 a rod.

Port Alberni Salmon Festival -  This is the big one. Held Labour Day Weekend (End of August) each year, the 37th annual is coming in 2008. Over $6,000 in prizes each day for three days plus hidden weight and draw prizes. Fish in Barkley Sound and the Alberni Inlet.
